The brief

Aarhus Kommune wanted a covered public room for markets, concerts and nothing in particular, on a harbour site with no columns permitted in the central 20 metres.

What we did

A folded-plate roof in cross-laminated timber spans 22 metres clear. The folds are structural, not decorative: each one stiffens the plate enough to keep the depth under 900 mm.

The whole roof was cut in a single production run and assembled in eleven days.

Status

On site. Public opening scheduled for spring 2026.
